“Hollyfake, Hollytrouble”: The World of the Famous, Where Alcohol, Drugs and Mental Disorders Reign

The Hollywood entertainment industry is seen as a world of glamour, success and perfect lives. This perception is a fabrication, a false narrative built to deceive and try to sell unrealistic dreams to most mortals. Although fame and fortune may be realities of some, the lives of these famous people hide challenges, pressures and dark realities - or even worse - than those faced by the ordinary citizen. This article aims to end the glamourization of Hollywood by offering a realistic view of the world of the famous.

The pressure and relevance in Hollywood can have a significant impact on the mental health of celebrities. Cases of anxiety, depression and substance use are remarkably high among the main celebrities known to the public, as a result of the incredible pressure and demands of Hollywood and the media. Robbie Williams is an example of a celebrity who had to fight the dark world of fame and success.

Reports of harassment, abuse of power and discrimination are incredibly high and abundant in the entertainment industry. The #MeToo movement came to show the world the predatory and abusive behaviors of the most powerful figures in the entertainment world against those who dream of being famous.

The need for perfection often seen in the media and through social networks demonstrates an almost perfect human being, some that is not realistic and characteristic of the human being. This distortion of reality leads to public figures but also their fans being victims of unrealistic standards of beauty, success and happiness, affecting their physical and emotional well-being.

Although the World of Hollywood presents a pink image, many stars are trying to connect with their audience through interviews, more sincere, honest and open comments and conversations, about their problems and challenges, whether in their professional life or in their personal life.

In the image Cardi B, the successful rapper, who lost a veneer of one of her teeth, demonstrating that the "Hollywood smile" is totally fake.
